Our Educational Programs
Coral Catch Scholarship Program
This award-winning initiative aimed at empowering local women to pursue careers in marine conservation. This program provides participants with hands-on training, mentorship, and the resources needed to become leaders in marine research and conservation. By participating, women gain valuable skills and knowledge, enabling them to actively contribute to the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems.
Gili Matra Bersama Internship Program
Our field experience-focused internship program for marine graduates offers local youth a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in marine conservation. Over the course of four months, participants receive comprehensive divemaster training while actively contributing to research and conservation projects. This program fosters a deep understanding of marine ecosystems and prepares youth for impactful careers in environmental science and conservation.
Gili Shark Conservation Research Assistant Program
The Gili Shark Conservation Research Assistant Program offers a unique opportunity for international participants passionate about marine conservation. This award-winning program combines hands-on fieldwork with comprehensive dive training.
As part of their research assistant program, participants will engage in scientific dives and activities alongside our team, assisting with vital research efforts. Participants become certified PADI Scientific Divers and gain expertise in shark and turtle ecology, marine monitoring, and data collection. Together, we empower future conservation leaders globally to protect our reefs and marine ecosystems.
* It should be noted that individuals joining from Gili Shark Conservation will only be joining for education purposes and will not be conducting research independently.
Weekly Swimming Classes
Our weekly swimming classes are designed to teach local women how to swim and understand the ocean’s importance. These classes not only provide essential swimming skills but also educate participants on the critical role of the ocean in our ecosystem. Women learn actionable steps they can take to protect marine environments, fostering a deeper connection and commitment to conservation.
Dive with a Purpose – Training Local Dive Guides
We offer specialized training for local dive guides, equipping them to dive with a purpose. This program transforms them into citizen scientists, enabling them to collect valuable data and contribute to ongoing marine research projects. By integrating conservation practices into their diving routines, these guides play a crucial role in promoting sustainable tourism and protecting marine life.
Conservation Classes For The Local Schools on Gili Air
We believe that lasting change begins with education. That’s why our Coral Catch Superwomen regularly visit local schools, sharing their passion for the ocean and teaching children how to care for ‘their island’ and ‘their ocean’.
Through fun, hands-on lessons, we aim to spark curiosity and a deep love for the ocean in every child we meet. Our dream is to see conservation become a part of the school curriculum, empowering the next generation to protect and cherish their home for years to come.
